Albert Hammond at Spencer Theater

Albert Hammond at Spencer Theater

Albert Hammond has been writing hit songs for over 50 years, many becoming Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, and Golden Globe nominees and winners. His folk-rock tunes are timeless, infused with sun-kissed Caribbean rhythms. Others are contemplative, cinematic pop anthems with sweeping strings and introspective harmonies. His prodigious half-century of artistry (songwriting, performing, recording and producing) has rendered 30+ chart-topping hits, 360 million records sold worldwide, and induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.

Not a single decade has passed without one of his smooth tunes standing as a hit in both English-speaking and Latin markets. His first airwave success came in the 1960s when he was just 24 with “It Never Rains In California,” and was followed by such international sensations as “The Air That I Breathe,” “When I Need You, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” “One Moment At A Time,” (written as the theme to the 1988 Olympics), “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before,” and “Cantare, Cantaras.”

Hammond’s honors are diverse and include an esteemed Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II and veneration from his home country of Gibraltar with a commemorative postage stamp series of his image and songs.

Coming to the Spencer on his international tour, the folk-rock giant presents his copious catalog of harmonies with a full band celebrating his most recent CD compilation, Legend II.
